             Ordinary and Necessary

In order to deduct expenses paid for by a business in its daily operations, the expenses must be ordinary and necessary. Expenses not satisfying the ordinary and necessary tests will be disallowed by the IRS. An example would be an auto mechanic that buys a rolex watch and tries to deduct it as a business expense.
